Jennings Experiential High School Goes to South Dakota

Unknown School) Originally published February 2005

On September 13th, 2004, twenty-five students and three staff members from Jennings Experiential High School left on their nine-day trip to South Dakota. They camped out everyday on ranches, farms, state parks, and at Pine Ridge Reservation. Students learned a lot about the Lakota culture, pioneer history, and U.S. relations with both groups. Some of the highlights were visits to Crazy Horse Monument, Wounded Knee, Mount Rushmore, Sturgis, and the Badlands. They even got to socialize with a pet buffalo and feed mildly tamed ones. It was a good workout for the new bus, “Slow Jay.” Everybody had a great time, it was a great trip, and everyone looks forward to the next one.
